Wellelsey Club UK Welcomed President Paula Johnson
Saturday, November 19, 2016
On Saturday, November 19th 2016 we were honored to be the first international alumnae Club to receive a visit from Paula A. Johnson, Wellesley College's 14th President. We are especially grateful to Maryam Homayoun-Eisler '89 for hosting us in the Institute of Contemporary Art's stunning Nash and Brandon Rooms, with a view of St. James's Park.
Paula spoke about recent campus events and the four pillars of the Campaign for Wellesley: Intellectual Community / Affordability and Access / A Sense of Place / 21st Century Impact. Each of the four pillars contain a variety of funding initiatives:
• Intellectual Community: support for students, faculty, and initiatives that enrich the academic program;
• Affordability and Access: support for financial aid and other initiatives that ensure that Wellesley is accessible to all students who are admitted, regardless of their financial circumstances;
• A Sense of Place: support for Wellesley's landscape and buildings; and
• 21st Century Impact: support for Career Education and other initiatives to ensure that Wellesley students are prepared for their lives after Wellesley.
There will be new priorities developed under Paula's new leadership, given her interests and expertise in health and wellness, and also interest in opportunities to enhance initiatives around diversity and inclusion.
